AFSA Chapter 985 members, here is your weekly newsletter for 10 October from HQ.

The House may be adjourned until January, but our lobbyists and Intl.  president are still busy fighting for our quality of life.  President Bush is scheduled to sign the 2009 NDAA at 1035 on Tuesday morning, including a 3.9% pay raise and many other benefits for Air Force enlisted members.  Once again, your membership is more than paid for by the time you get your mid-month check in January!   We are also protected again from Tricare increases for retirees under 65 years of age. Legislative Report

A huge thank you is in order for both MSgt Lance Turner and SMSgt (ret) Mike Devenitch for producing our first legislative report since April!  A lot has been going on for a lot of people, and the legislative report has been taking the back-burner for a while.

Great news!!!  We have received approval for the holiday gift wrap fundraiser at the BX again this year.  Of course that means we will be asking for volunteers from the membership again and we hope you will continue to support us as much as you have in the past.  We continue to get more and more requests from different organizations for our money, so it continues to be important for this single fundraising opportunity to help us be able to support them.  Be watching for a schedule to be posted on the website soon, and a POC for you to contact to sign up.
