Nominations for Airman and NCO of the Year are being accepted contact President Terry Turner president@afsa985.org  if you wish to submit for either award.

Award Criteria:
Nominee must have been an AFSA member NLT 1 Jul 2011. An AF Form 1206 must be submitted with 35 lines not including 4 headers.  There is still time to prepare and submit your packages.  Chapter 985 awards luncheon is scheduled for February 9, 2012, 1100-1230, Tinker Club Ball room and the nominee should be present.

Air Force Sergeants Association is requesting AOY & NCOY Nomination for Chapter 985.  Winner will compete at AFSA Division 89 Professional Airmen’s Conference to be held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma this year, March 29-31, 2012. http://www.afsadiv89.org/index.php/2012-division-89-professional-airman-s-conference/

Last Year’s Winner’s were SrA Jennifer Ponder and TSgt Lisa Muth.  SrA Ponder went on to win at Division level #1 of 12K.  This year’s winner will compete in Jacksonville, Florida in August 2012 at AFSA International Professional Airmen’s Conference 2012.  Attached are sample BIO and cover letter.  AFSA Awards Luncheon is scheduled for 9 Feb 12, 1100-1230.  Invites will be sent out next week.

We are manning tables set up outside the entrance of the Tinker Exchange where we will provide gift wrapping services for donations.  This is our primary fundraiser for the year and our biggest source of income.  We only have a few more days to help with this effort, so contact President Terry Turner as soon as possible to sign up.  Each time slot is 3 hours and in most cases you will be paired with at least two other volunteers.  All wrapping supplies will be provided and all volunteers must be in civilian clothes (no PT gear).

Please volunteer for one, or many, time slots… we could really use the help!  We started wrapping on 29 November and will continue through 24 December, from 0900-2100 daily.

The benefits of this very successful fundraiser:

• High visibility for the AFSA Chapter 985, your squadron, and you.  Funds raised support Team Tinker and local community projects.
• You get a good “Community Involvement” bullet for your EPR or awards package!
• It’s easy, relatively clean, and inside!
• It’s more fun than actual work!
• Another chance to listen to your Christmas music, bring it along and make the atmosphere more festive!
