February 19th, 2010 by Webmaster
The 19 February weekly newsletter is attached for your review. Please note the call to action to stop a 21% decrease in the amount doctors are reimbursed for Tricare/Medicare patients. If that change takes place, many doctors will likely stop accepting Tricare patients because they already accept a very reduced rate of payment and this will bring that amount too low for most to accept. It could really impact the referrals we get from Tinker and the care retirees get as well.
Please take a few minutes to review the entire newsletter so you can stay informed. If anyone goes to see the VFW commander speak at the OGA this morning at 1000, this may be a good question to ask him about.

There isn’t as much information as usual in the 12 February Newsletter, but HQ and the DC area were shut down nearly all week due to the snow storms. Despite that there are a few good articles about visits by Gen Fraser and CMSAF Roy.
As always, I hope you have a great week.

There is a lot of good information in the 5 February Newsletter as usual, whether you are active duty, reserves, national guard, or retired. In this case, there is even information in the newsletter about increases in government spending for spouses. Please take a look and let me know if you have any questions.

The 22 January weekly newsletter from AFSA HQ is available. Please take a few minutes to see what our leaders have been doing to represent us, and what our association is doing for the community. Thank you to those who have contacted me to renew their membership, or to rejoin. Don’t forget, the application deadline for the chapter’s education grants is approaching rapidly. The application instructions are on the left, as well as a link for the Div 89 scholarship applications, and in this week’s newsletter has information about the AFSA scholarship programs.
You can’t win if you don’t submit an application!

Chapter members, your 15 January weekly newsletter from AFSA HQ is here for your viewing pleasure.
Many of you have heard me speak about the very small number of paid staff AFSA employs, and what they do. You have also heard me say that our lobbyists, president, and CEO educate our elected representatives about the needs and desires of the Air Force’ enlisted force. The first few paragraphs of the newsletter will demonstrate how respected our staff is among Air Force leaders. Not only are they teaching those on Capitol Hill about our needs, they are educating Air Force leaders about hot-button topics on Capitol Hill. No other professional organization has the impact of AFSA in making sure our quality of life benefits are protected and enhanced. Membership fees are a very small price to pay for what they do and we need to increase our membership to ensure the continued operations of the association. Contact me if your membership is about to expire, you’re not sure when it is going to expire, or has already expired, and I will help you remain a member, or regain your membership. It is more important now than ever!
Enjoy MLK day and have a productive week.

The 3 December weekly AFSA newsletter is available. Congress is back to work, so we’ll see more legislative information next week. While the newsletter may be short, it is packed with great information. Check out the 4 Keys to Being A Successful Airman: by Lt Col Mickle. This really struck home for me since I found so many Airmen in Afghanistan that didn’t know what their mission was, or why they were there, and his comments about Airmen facing punishment; good stuff.
Are you an Air Force Times subscriber? If so, renew your subscription and tell them you’re an AFSA member. You’ll get 27% off and AFSA will get $5 for each subscription!

Your 20 November weekly AFSA newsletter is available. One note of local interest is the comment about CMSgt Jim Pepin, a former Chapter 985 President who was recently selected to be the Vice Commandant, CCAF. Congratulations Chief! He will be just the second Chief to hold this position, normally held by a senior AF officer.
Have a wonderful and safe week, and enjoy your Thanksgiving!
